BID Battle: Community Prevails Over Big Developers

Alice Paul outlined the election policy: First, the enemy must be identified. All present could agree, she believed, that the enemy was the Democratic Party. Holding the presidency and both houses of Congress, they were to blame for blocking the suffrage amendment. Second, the method of attack: the Democratic Party would be attacked with the weapon of nearly four million votes belonging to women in the nine enfranchised states, to whom an appeal would be made “to withdraw their support from the Democrats” in the coming election.

Rochester Prevails Against the Unjust BID

While Rochesterians have won the battle by stopping the BID, the war against privatization, gentrification, and over-policing is far from over. Rochester should not be run by wealthy property owners and they certainly haven’t given up on their goal of control of downtown. ROC DSA is committed to continuing this fight and we urge you to join us.

We’re calling on YOU to vote in the Democratic Presidential Primary on Tuesday, April 2 by turning in a blank ballot. The presidential primary is the only election on the ballot, so simply grab a ballot, turn around, and put it into the scanner. No need to write anything at all!

Speak to Council: Our Freedom is Bound Together

We need you to pay attention to the people of Rochester, not the gentrifiers driving the mayor’s agenda, but the people who live here now. We have a right to survive and thrive in our homes and to not be displaced. And so do the people of Palestine. Our freedom is bound together.
